Consistency, monotonicity, and the uniform rule
Economics Letters, 1994Abstract We consider the problem of fairly allocating an infinitely divisible commodity among a group of agents whose preferences are single-peaked. We show that the uniform rule is the only solution to satisfy consistency, monotonicity and individual rationality from equal division.

The use of a Fuzzy Inference System FIS as a part of Criterion-referenced Assessment CRA is not new. Nevertheless, there are several limitations in combining FIS models and CRA, as follows.

Maskin monotonic aggregation rules
Economics Letters, 2006Given a society confronting two alternatives, we show that the set of anonymous, neutral and Maskin monotonic aggregation rules coincides with the family of absolute qualified majority rules. We also explore the effect of incorporating Pareto optimality in our characterization.

Learning Rule Ensembles for Ordinal Classification with Monotonicity Constraints
Fundamenta Informaticae, 2009Ordinal classification problems with monotonicity constraints (also referred to as multicriteria classification problems) often appear in real-life applications, however, they are considered relatively less frequently in theoretical studies than regular ...

System Stability of Learning-Based Linear Optimal Control With General Discounted Value Iteration
IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2022For discounted optimal regulation design, the stability of the controlled system is affected by the discount factor. If an inappropriate discount factor is employed, the optimal control policy might be unstabilizing.

Monotonicity and qualified majority rules
Economic Theory Bulletin, 2018This paper reflects on some results characterizing qualified majority rules using monotonicity as a key axiom. In particular, some errors in the existing literature are detected and ways to fix them are proposed. Then, the role of monotonicity axiom in characterizing majority rules is analyzed.
