Recovering non-monotonicity problems of voting rules [PDF]
A social choice rule (SCR) is monotonic if raising a single alternative in voters’ preferences while leaving the rankings otherwise unchanged is never detrimental to the prospects for winning of the raised alternative. Monotonicity is rather weak but well-known to discriminate against scoring elimination rules, such as plurality with a run off and ...

In this study, exciting new bi‐/multi‐linear elastic behavior of soft elastic composites that accompany the activation of wrinkling in the embedded interfacial layers is analyzed. The new features and performance of these composite materials, including dramatic enhancements in energy storage, can be tailored by the concentration of interfacial layers ...

Discovering Rules That Govern Monotone Phenomena [PDF]
Unlocking the mystery of natural phenomena is a universal objective in scientific research. The rules governing a phenomenon can most often be learned by observing it under a sufficiently large number of conditions that are sufficiently high in resolution. The general knowledge discovery process is not always easy or efficient, and even if knowledge is

The study presents an efficient simulation approach for the polymer laser powder bed fusion process polymers process, validated with polyamide 12, polyamide 6, and polyetherketoneketone. It shows that inter layer time affects part density, with 90s yielding dense parts.

In this research, ZrC coatings are evaluated against various counterprobes at the microscale using novel super‐stiff atomic force microscopy cantilevers. The chemical composition of the coating is shown to be an important factor influencing coating hardness and Young's modulus, while surface roughness, counterprobe hardness, and surface energy are the ...

Rule base compression in fuzzy systems by filtration of non-monotonic rules [PDF]
This paper proposes a rule base compression method for Mamdani fuzzy systems with non-monotonic rules. The method is based on filtration of non-monotonic rules whereby the redundant computations in the fuzzy inference with respect to the crisp values of the inputs to the fuzzy system are removed.

This study presents a 3D representative volume element‐based simulation approach to predict mesoscopic residual stress and strain fields in silicon solid solution‐strengthened ductile cast iron. By modeling phase transformation kinetics with an enhanced Johnson–Mehl–Avrami–Kolmogorov model, the effects of varying cooling rates on residual stresses are ...

Absolute Monotonicity of Normalized Tail of Power Series Expansion of Exponential Function
In this work, the author reviews the origination of normalized tails of the Maclaurin power series expansions of infinitely differentiable functions, presents that the ratio between two normalized tails of the Maclaurin power series expansion of the ...

Monotone Fuzzy Rule Relabeling for the Zero-Order TSK Fuzzy Inference System
To maintain the monotonicity property of a fuzzy inference system, a monotonically ordered and complete set of fuzzy rules is necessary. However, monotonically ordered fuzzy rules are not always available, e.g., errors in human judgments lead to ...
