Optimal Asynchronous Dynamic Policies in Energy-Efficient Data Centers

open access: yesSystems, 2022
In this paper, we apply a Markov decision process to find the optimal asynchronous dynamic policy of an energy-efficient data center with two server groups.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

Decreasing and complete monotonicity of functions defined by derivatives of completely monotonic function involving trigamma function

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
In this study, using convolution theorem of the Laplace transforms, a monotonicity rule for the ratio of two Laplace transforms, Bernstein’s theorem for completely monotonic functions, and other analytic techniques, the authors verify decreasing property

Implementation in mixed Nash equilibrium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A mechanism implements a social choice correspondence f in mixed Nash equilibrium if at any preference profile, the set of all pure and mixed Nash equilibrium outcomes coincides with the set of f-optimal alternatives at that preference profile.

The Polyhedral Geometry of Pivot Rules and Monotone Paths

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Algebra and Geometry, 2023
Motivated by the analysis of the performance of the simplex method we study the behavior of families of pivot rules of linear programs. We introduce normalized-weight pivot rules which are fundamental for the following reasons: First, they are memory-less, in the sense that the pivots are governed by local information encoded by an arborescence. Second,

Tuning the Selectivity of the CO2 Reduction Reaction by Means of Synergistic Interactions in the Cu, Ag, Ce System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multi‐metal Cu─Ce─Ag nanoparticles harness synergistic interactions to drive efficient electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction toward C2+ products at high current densities. Ag enhances CO production, Ce modulates Cu oxidation states, and together they boost *CO coverage and local pH to enhance C─C coupling, enabling record C2+ yields with suppressed ...

On Qi’s Normalized Remainder of Maclaurin Power Series Expansion of Logarithm of Secant Function

open access: yesAxioms
In the study, the authors introduce Qi’s normalized remainder of the Maclaurin power series expansion of the function lnsecx=−lncosx; in view of a monotonicity rule for the ratio of two Maclaurin power series and by virtue of the logarithmic convexity of

Vicarious Liability and the Intensity Principle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The present paper provides an economic analysis of vicarious liability that takes information rents and monitoring costs to be borne by the principal explicitly into account.

MULTI-VARIATE STOPPING PROBLEMS WITH A MONOTONE RULE

open access: yesJournal of the Operations Research Society of Japan, 1982
A monotone rule is introduced to sum up individual declarations in a multi-variate stopping problem. The rule is defined by a monotone logical function and is equivalent to the winning class of Kadane. This paper generalizes the previous works on a majority rule.
