JOURNAL OF CLINICAL AND DIAGNOSTIC RESEARCH, 2014 This article discusses a case of 5-year-old girl monozygotic twins who were suffering from geographic tongue (GT), a benign inflammatory disorder of the tongue which is characterized by circinate, irregular erythematous lesions on the dorsum and lateral borders of the tongue caused by loss of filiform papillae of the tongue epithelium.

Monozygotic twinning, the formation of identical twins from a single zygote, is particularly rare in these species and has been observed overwhelmingly in viviparous elasmobranchs.
