Squint in monozygotic twins

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1979
In a group of monozygotic twins, in which at least one of the pair squinted, strabismus was observed in both twins in only about half of the cases. Within the concordant group there was variation in the way in which the anomaly became manifest.

Monozygotic Twinning as a Congenital Defect and Congenital Defects in Monozygotic Twins

Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy, 1990
The process of monozygotic twinning in animals and humans is presented. In addition, congenital defects in monozygotic twins versus dizygotic twins and singletons is discussed. Overall, the rates of congenital anomalies are higher among whites as compared to blacks, males as compared to females, and multiples as compared to singletons.

Monozygotic twinning and structural defects

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1979
An excess of structural defects occurs in monozygotic twins compared in dizygotic twins or singletons. The excess is composed of three categories of defects. The first includes defects which are part of the MZ twinning, such as conjoined twins and some amorphous twins.

Endometriosis in monozygotic twins

Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1994
Objective. To study the reproductive and medical history of monozygotic twin sisters and mothers of patients with endometriosis.Material and methods. Among 515 patients with endometriosis, eight had a monozygotic twin sister all of whom had had a gynecological laparoscopy or laparotomy. In addition, five of their mothers had had a laparotomy.

Delayed Ovulation and Monozygotic Twinning

Acta geneticae medicae et gemellologiae, 1976
Aiming to show that delayed ovulation may induce MZ twinning, follicular maturation was induced in the rabbit by a small quantity of Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotropin (16 UI four times): coitus, which induces ovulation in the rabbit, was delayed 60 hours after the last injection.

Rett syndrome in monozygotic twins

American Journal of Medical Genetics, 1988
AbstractThe evolution of the Rett syndrome in 29‐year‐old twin girls is presented. Evidence for monozygosity is given together with a brief account of the problems these girls posed to their family in early childhood.

Waldenström's Macroglobulinemia in Monozygotic Twins

Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1986
ABSTRACTThis paper reports a unique familial occurrence of Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM) in monozygotic twins. The determination of twin monozygosity has been performed by electrophoretic and immunological typing of genetic systems (erythrocyte blood groups, leucocyte antigens and serum protein polymorphism).

Monozygotic twins with the Turner syndrome

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1972
Abstract A monozygotic identical twin pair with the 45,XO Turner syndrome is reported. The twins were phenotypically identical, a surprisingly unusual occurrence among monozygotic twins with the Turner syndrome. Monozygotic twinning is apparently the most common form of twinning among reported patients with the Turner syndrome.

Monozygotic Twins in Cattle

1954
Publisher Summary Despite the fact that more than two decades have passed since Kronacher began his studies on cattle twins, no single test or series of tests yet exists through which it would be possible to distinguish between monozygotic and dizygotic cattle twins in an objective manner.
