Role of tidal range and coastline morphology on the evolution of two macrotidal sand spits

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 311-327, February 2025.
Based on historical map and stratigraphic data, the construction dynamics of two sandspits, respectively, subject to macrotidal and hypertidal range (6.5 m vs. 14 m), and that both appeared at the end of the 17th century, are compared. The hypertidal spit developed fast, between 1650 and 1750 CE, with a dominant seaward direction while the macrotidal ...

Biogeographical Distribution of River Microbial Communities in Atlantic Catchments

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 1, February 2025.
We discovered different factors affecting river microbial communities (RMC) diversity and composition across Atlantic catchments in Europe. Prokaryote diversity was mainly influenced by topography and geology, while eukaryotic groups were driven by land use and cover.

Detachment Faulting and Mantle Exhumation Beneath an Allochthonous Carbonate Cover: Insights From the Gouffre Georges (Lherz Massif, Pyrenees, France)

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 44, Issue 1, January 2025.
Abstract The Cretaceous North Pyrenean hyperextended rift system recorded HT‐LP metamorphism in the pre‐ and syn‐rift sedimentary cover during lithospheric mantle exhumation. We describe and analyze for the first time the rocks exposed in the Gouffre Georges, a deep cave in the Lherz peridotite massif (Ariège, France).

The epibiotic community associated to the European flat oyster: a function of the state of development of the reef

open access: yesRestoration Ecology, Volume 33, Issue 1, January 2025.
When healthy, Ostrea edulis populations are capable of creating remarkable biogenic reefs, providing a unique habitat for marine biodiversity. At present, the biotic assemblages associated with flat oysters remain poorly defined. This study aims to analyze biodiversity associated with the reef's development stage by focusing on its epibiotic community.
