Monte Carlo Solutions for Blind Phase Noise Estimation

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2009
This paper investigates the use of Monte Carlo sampling methods for phase noise estimation on additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels. The main contributions of the paper are (i) the development of a Monte Carlo framework for phase noise ...

Programmable 2D Magnetic Clusterphenes With High Curie Temperature and Strong Magnetic Anisotropy via Cluster Assembly and Ligand Synergy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Programmable 2D magnetic clusterphenes are realized through a ligand‐mediated cluster‐assembly strategy. Direct linking of magnetic superatomic clusters enhances electron delocalization and symmetry breaking, enabling the concurrent strengthening of magnetic exchange interactions and spin–orbit coupling.

Monte Carlo Computability.

open access: yes, 2017
We introduce Monte Carlo computability as a probabilistic concept of computability on infinite objects and prove that Monte Carlo computable functions are closed under composition. We then mutually separate the following classes of functions from each other: the class of multi-valued functions that are non-deterministically computable, that of Las ...

Impact of Disorder on Microscopic Superconducting and Normal‐State Responses in a Kagome Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Using depth‐resolved, field‐ and pressure‐dependent μSR$\umu{\rm SR}$ measurements, we show that disorder in Ta‐doped KV3Sb5 drives a crossover from nodal to nodeless superconductivity while strongly modifying the normal‐state magnetic response. Our results reveal that disorder affects superconductivity and magnetism in fundamentally different ways ...

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Misadventures in Monte Carlo

open access: yesJournal of Sports Analytics, 2019
Estimating probability is the very core of forecasting. Increasing computing power has enabled researchers to design highly intractable probability models, such that model results are identified through the Monte Carlo method of repeated stochastic ...

Evaluating Embedded Monte Carlo vs. Total Monte Carlo for Nuclear Data Uncertainty Quantification [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
The purpose of this paper is to compare a new method called Embedded Monte Carlo (EMC) to the well-known Total Monte Carlo (TMC) method for nuclear data uncertainty propagation.

Monte Carlo and Quasi-Monte Carlo for Statistics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This article reports on the contents of a tutorial session at MCQMC 2008. The tutorial explored various places in statistics where Monte Carlo methods can be used. There was a special emphasis on areas where Quasi-Monte Carlo ideas have been or could be applied, as well as areas that look like they need more research.
