Experimental Study on Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Barge-Type Breakwaters under Different Mooring Methods

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
In this paper, a yacht project in Tingjiang Town, Mawei, Fujian, is suggested as an example of a barge type breakwater made out of scrap barges. The physical modelling of a two-dimensional flume wave test was carried out on a barge-type breakwater ...

A Deep Learning-Based Approach to Failure Detection in Mooring (Thin) Lines from Marine Images

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings, 2023
Mooring systems are incorporated from mooring (thin) lines that are constituted of fiber ropes, steel wires, and chains. Mooring systems are used for the stationary keeping of floating units during the drilling process of oil and gas from offshore deep ...

Cold Quad‐Modal Nanocomplex for Precise and Quantitative In Vivo Stem Cell Tracking

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal albumin–bismuth sulfide–superparamagnetic iron oxide (ABS) nanocomplexes are developed for stem cell tracking across four different imaging modalities: MRI, MPI, MSOT, and CT. Combining its flexibility with high sensitivity, this quad‐modal imaging agent enables a robust quantification of ABS‐labeled stem cells in vivo.

Design and comparative analysis of mooring systems for a combined wind and wave energy system at intermediate water depth

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Science
For intermediate water depths (typically ranging from 50 m to 80 m), designing steel catenary mooring systems for floating marine renewable energy (FMRE) platforms can be challenging due to the limited weight of suspended mooring lines.

Study on characteristics of mooring system of a new floating offshore wind turbine in shallow water by experiment

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
At present, researches on floating offshore wind turbine are mainly focused on deep water areas beyond 50 m, and less research has been conducted for shallow water. Considering that the floating fan still has many application values in 30 m–50 m area, it

Design Aspects of Positional Mooring System Based on LR FOIFL Rules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Floating offshore units, such as FPSOs, are subject to dynamic excitations from the environment and require to be moored to maintain position at the fix location of operation.

High‐Performance Electrocatalysts of Potassium Lactate Oxidation for Hydrogen and Solid Potassium Acetate Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 13, April 2, 2025.
Potassium lactate, produced from polylactic acid plastic waste, is oxidized to potassium acetate on an anode using Ni(Co)OOH as the electrocatalyst, while hydrogen is simultaneously generated at the cathode, through a highly efficient industrial‐scale electrolysis system.

Parametric Sensitivity Analysis of Mooring Chains of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine in Shallow Water

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) are severely restricted in numerous sea areas due to challenges from the strong nonlinear characteristics of mooring chains in shallow water (less than 50 m).

Measuring the impact of observations on the predictability of the Kuroshio Extension in a shallow-water model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper sequential importance sampling is used to assess the impact of observations on a ensemble prediction for the decadal path transitions of the Kuroshio Extension (KE). This particle filtering approach gives access to the probability density of
