In Statoil mooring chains have been inspected since the first floaters were installed in the 1990’s, and replacement of top chain started as early as year 2000. A comparison is made of the behavior of a buoy anchored with an elastomeric tether and a chain catenary mooring at the same water depth and under the same environmental conditions.
