Techno‐Economic and Quasi‐Dynamic Load Flow Analysis of a Hybrid Renewable Microgrid for Coastal Industrial Loads

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A hybrid PV–wind grid‐connected microgrid for Mongla Port is optimized using HOMER Pro and validated via DIgSILENT quasi‐dynamic load flow. The system achieves a low cost of energy (0.0341 USD/kWh), 70.9% renewable penetration, improved voltage stability, and significant emission reduction, demonstrating a reliable and cost‐effective solution for ...

Dynamic response of communities and ecosystem functions to ecosystem engineering and multiple stressors in a marine mussel bed

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Ecosystem engineers are crucial to the development of coastal ecosystem communities and functions. However, a better understanding of how environmental stressors affect ecosystem engineering and thereby influence communities and ecosystem dynamics is needed. We conducted an in situ experiment in a blue mussel Mytilus spp.

Balancing forage and fear: How people, environment and predators shape reindeer grazing in the Fennoscandian tundra

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract The long history of reindeer herding in Fennoscandia has shaped the mountain tundra by influencing its productivity, nutrient and carbon cycling and vegetation structure. By partly limiting shrub expansion, extensive reindeer grazing contributes to ecosystem resilience and helps mitigate climate change effects.

Impact of data assimilation on Arctic sea‐ice thickness variability and its coupling with atmospheric forcing

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
We document for the first time how the assimilation of CS2SMOS observations improves the model representation of Arctic sea‐ice thickness (SIT) and its variability: biases are reduced (top row), while excessive variability in the Beaufort Sea and lack of variability in the ice pack are both corrected (bottom row).
