Simulation of Mooring Line Operation in Ship Mooring

Journal of The Institution of Engineers (India): Series C, 2021
In order to simulate the process of ship mooring more accurately, catenary equations are used to model mooring lines. Use different catenary models to simulate different phases of ship mooring operation. Establish a basic elastic catenary equation of mooring line by using the micro mechanical equilibriums theory.

Mooring Component Perormance Kevlar Mooring Lines

OCEANS '78, 1978
Kevlar®ropes used as oceanographic mooring lines potentially offer the advantages of corrosion resistance, low stretch combined with high strength and low specific gravity. Tests completed at sea to date on a variety of line constructions to evaluate the performance of the material in the ocean environment, have resulted in ambiguous but disappointing ...

Mooring Lines - Integrity Management

Offshore Technology Conference, 2012
Abstract The Floating Product Systems (FPS) fleet has increased steadily over the last 2decades and is expected to continue to grow with developments in the world'sdeepwater basins. One of the issues with floating installation is that they aremoored to the seabed and therefore subject to the forces exerted during ...

Dynamics of Spread Mooring Systems With Hybrid Mooring Lines

Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, 2000
The weight of a chain mooring line in deep water is the main source of mooring line tension. Chain weight also induces a vertical force on the moored vessel. To achieve the desired tension without excessive weight, hybrid mooring lines, such as lighter synthetic fiber ropes with chains, have been proposed.

The Analysis of Mooring Lines

Offshore Technology Conference, 1971
Abstract An approach for treating mooring line response problems is described. Relative to other methods, greater generality and computational efficiency is achieved. The technique is a form of incremental linearlization.

Characterization of Polyester Mooring Lines

Volume 1: Offshore Technology, 2008
Fibre ropes are extensively used in marine applications. One critical area of interest is their application as mooring lines for floating offshore platforms, for which primarily polyester is now employed in various regions (offshore Brazil - now for 10 years, West Africa, Gulf of Mexico).

Extreme loads in taut mooring lines and mooring line induced damping: an asymptotic approach

Applied Ocean Research, 2000
Abstract A mooring line submerged in water is considered. The equations for the tension in the line and damping due to viscous drag forces on the line is developed under the assumption that the tension in the line is large relative to the submerged weight of the line.
