Hybrid Perovskite‐Photovoltaic and Solar‐Thermal Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 42, November 13, 2025.
This study presents a hybrid solar energy harvesting concept that integrates a semi‐transparent perovskite solar module with a thermal collector. High‐energy photons generate electricity at 14.3% efficiency, while ≈55% of low‐energy photons provide heat.

Structured Optical Receivers for Efficient Deep-Space Communication

open access: yes, 2017
We discuss conceptual designs for structured optical receivers that can alleviate the requirement for high peak-to-average power ratio in photon-starved optical communication.

Generation of tuneable 589nm radiation as a Na guide star source using an optical parametric amplifier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We describe a 5.5W 589nm source based on a passively modelocked Nd:YVO4 laser and a multi-stage Lithium Triborate optical parametric amplifier seeded by a tuneable semiconductor laser.

Durable Nonfluorinated Stochastically Hierarchical Superhydrophobic Interface for Intense Long‐Term Phase Change Cooling

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2025.
A novel six‐step strategy is developed for fabrication of durable stochastically hierarchical superhydrophobic boiling interfaces. The engineered interfacial properties effectively mitigate the loss of superhydrophobicity that occurs on copper during long‐term boiling, overcoming a key barrier to practical deployment in advanced phase change cooling ...

Detailed comparison of injection-seeded and self-seeded performance of a 1060nm gain-switched Fabry-Perot laser diode

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate and compare the performance of a gain-switched picosecond Fabry-Perot laser diode operated at 1.06 µm under both injection- and self-seeded conditions.

100 W all fiber picosecond MOPA laser

open access: yesOptics Express, 2009
A high power picosecond laser is constructed in an all fiber master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) configuration. The seed source is an ytterbium-doped single mode fiber laser passively mode-locked by a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM). It produces 20 mW average power with 13 ps pulse width and 59.8 MHz repetition rate.

Chiral Lasing Emission from a Simple Two‐Unit Supercell Metasurface

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 19, Issue 20, October 20, 2025.
Circularly polarized light (CPL) sources are vital for various applications, yet narrow‐linewidth chiral lasing with a high degree of circular polarization (DCP) remains challenging. This study demonstrates narrow‐linewidth chiral lasing using a two‐unit supercell metasurface. The in‐plane symmetry breaking induces spin splitting of the Γ0‐BIC into Γ±1

A High Power Frequency-Stabilized Tunable Two-Frequency Diode Laser System for the Generation of Coherent THz-Waves by Photomixing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
A tunable two-frequency high-power diode laser system at 850 nm for terahertz (Thz)-wave generation by photomixing in low-temperature-grown GaAs photo-conductors has been developed. The difference frequency is obtained through a three laser system, where

A tunable cavity-locked diode laser source for terahertz photomixing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
An all solid-state approach to the precise frequency synthesis and control of widely tunable terahertz radiation by differencing continuous-wave diode lasers at 850 nm is reported in this paper.
