Extended time to maturity in Anopheles coluzzii: Implications of late egg hatch for vector control and transgene fitness. [PDF]

open access: yesMed Vet Entomol
The fitness of Anopheles coluzzii mosquito lines (VK strain) selected for early and late egg hatching was compared with each other and a reference strain (Mopti). There was an observed increase in fitness in fecundity and survival among the late‐hatching lines, but no negative effects of selection on fecundity and adult survival were detected.

Patterns of genetic differentiation imply distinct phylogeographic history of the mosquito species Anopheles messeae and Anopheles daciae in Eurasia

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, Volume 32, Issue 20, Page 5609-5625, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Detailed knowledge of phylogeography is important for control of mosquito species involved in the transmission of human infectious diseases. Anopheles messeae is a geographically widespread and genetically diverse dominant vector of malaria in Eurasia. A closely related species, An. daciae, was originally distinguished from An.

Conflict and Child Mortality in Mali: A Synthetic Control Analysis

open access: yesPopulation and Development Review, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 1097-1123, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Indirect effects of conflict on mortality of vulnerable groups are as important, or more important, than the direct effects. However, data limitations and methodological challenges hinder the estimation of excess deaths produced by conflict, and few studies explore the mechanisms by which conflict harms civilian populations.

Impact of herd mobility on brucellosis seroprevalence and spread risk resulting from cross-border transhumance. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
This study aims to explore the seroprevalence of brucellosis according to mobility, and the infection spread between Mali and Côte d'Ivoire in the context of cross‐border seasonal transhumance.
