Tryptophan‐sensing receptor GPR142 expression levels are directly regulated by proinflammatory cytokines in ghrelin‐producing cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GPR142, a tryptophan‐sensing receptor, stimulates gastrointestinal hormones like ghrelin and is linked to inflammation regulation. Proinflammatory cytokines suppress ghrelin production, while tryptophan levels decrease via IDO1 activation. Our findings reveal that proinflammatory cytokines directly regulate GPR142 expression in ghrelin‐producing cells,

Bayesian response adaptive randomization design with a composite endpoint of mortality and morbidity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Allocating patients to treatment arms during a trial based on the observed responses accumulated prior to the decision point, and sequential adaptation of this allocation,, could minimize the expected number of failures or maximize total benefit to patients.

A potential tumor suppressor role of PLK2 in glioblastoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PLK2 was consistently downregulated in GBM tissues. Overexpression of PLK2 in GBM cell lines U87MG and U251 reduced their tumorigenic potential and enhanced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Suggesting that PLK2 overexpression could potentially be leveraged as a therapeutic strategy to inhibit tumor progression and enhance apoptosis, providing new ...

MiR-23a-5p alleviates chronic obstructive pulmonary disease through targeted regulation of RAGE-ROS pathway

open access: yesRespiratory Research
Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common respiratory disease and represents the third leading cause of death worldwide. This study aimed to investigate miRNA regulation of Receptor for Advanced Glycation End-products (RAGE), a ...

Identification of inhibitors of the Salmonella FraB deglycase, a drug target

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A high‐throughput screen was used to identify inhibitors of Salmonella FraB, a drug target. Characterization of top hits (identified after an additional counter screen) revealed that some triazolidines, thiadiazolidines, and triazolothiadiazoles are mixed‐type inhibitors of FraB.

A correlation between Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (1-H MRS) and the neurodevelopment of two-year-olds born preterm in an EPIRMEX cohort study

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2022
BackgroundPreterm infants are at risk of neurodevelopmental impairments. At present, proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) is currently used to evaluate brain metabolites in asphyxiated term infants. The purpose of this study was to identify in

Acacetin reduces endoplasmic reticulum stress through the P‐eNOS/PERK signaling pathway to attenuate MGO‐induced vascular endothelial cell dysfunction

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We investigated a potential protective effect of acacetin, a naturally occurring flavonoid, against methylglyoxal (MGO)‐induced endothelial dysfunction in human umbilical vein endothelial cells and its mechanism of action. Acacetin can could inhibit MGO‐induced intracellular calcium ion influx, enhance the expression levels of phosphorylated ...

T2‐weighted imaging of rectal cancer using a 3D fast spin echo sequence with and without deep learning reconstruction: A reader study

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To compare image quality and clinical utility of a T2‐weighted (T2W) 3‐dimensional (3D) fast spin echo (FSE) sequence using deep learning reconstruction (DLR) versus conventional reconstruction for rectal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
