Fraternal twins with Morgagni hernias
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2005Fraternal twins with identical left-sided foramen of Morgagni hernias are described. The occurrence of this rare type of congenital diaphragmatic hernia in twins suggests that genetic factors play a role in the formation of this lesion.

These may be confused with a traumatic diaphragmatic hernia. The lateral chest film is helpful in the differential diagnosis. The barium enema is usually diagnostic.

A 94-year-old woman, who had been complaining of repeated epigastralgia and vomiting for 4 months, was admitted to the hospital because of hematoemesis. In the front view of the chest by a simple X-ray photograph, well-defined bowel gas was shown in the heartphrenic angle. In the lateral view, a similar finding was located between the sternum and heart.
