Active flutter suppression of wing with morphing flap
Aerospace Science and Technology, 2021Abstract The flutter characteristics of a wing with morphing flap are analyzed based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method. The unsteady aerodynamic reduced order model (ROM) is constructed to model the morphing flap with high accuracy, and the effect of flap camber on the wing flutter boundary is investigated.

OPTIMIZATION FRAMEWORK OF A RAM AIR INLET COMPOSITE MORPHING FLAP
10th ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Smart Structures and Materials, 2023The ram air inlets flaps are used in some aircraft to modulate the amount of ramair cooling the Environmental Control System. The current flap design features two metallic plates connected with a hinge. The present work studies an alternative design that replaces the metallic plates with a single composite laminate with morphing capabilities.

The discontinuous contour of a wing with conventional flaps diminishes the aerodynamic performance of an aircraft. A wing with a continuous contour does not experience extreme flow stream fluctuations during flight, and consequently has good aerodynamic characteristics.
