Morphodynamic Evolution of Post-Nourishment Beach Scarps in Low-Energy and Micro-Tidal Environment

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Beach scarps are commonly associated with nourishment. Large and persistent beach scarps not only affect the performance of beach nourishment, but also are safety hazards to tourists.

Processes, feedbacks, and morphodynamic evolution of tidal flat–marsh systems: Progress and challenges

open access: yesWater Science and Engineering, 2022
Tidal flats and saltmarshes have been a long-standing research focus because of their high socio-economic and ecological values. The evolution of tidal flat–marsh systems is highly complex due to the intertwined processes operating over a variety of ...

Impact of Anthropogenic Facilities on the Morphodynamic Evolution of an Estuarine System: The Case of Oum Er-Rbia Estuary (Azemmour, Morocco)

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2019
The Oum Er-Rbia estuary is located on the Atlantic littoral of Morocco. It undergoes severe clogging due to the sand deposition in its outlet. The current study examined the indicators of the morphodynamic evolution in the littoral system including the ...

Morphodynamic Controls for Growth and Evolution of a Rubble Coral Island

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
Rubble islands are dynamic sedimentary features present on reef platforms that evolve under a variety of morphodynamic processes and controlling mechanisms.

Morphodynamic evolution following sediment release from the world's largest dam removal. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2018
Sediment pulses can cause widespread, complex changes to rivers and coastal regions. Quantifying landscape response to sediment-supply changes is a long-standing problem in geomorphology, but the unanticipated nature of most sediment pulses rarely allows

Decadal Hydro-Morphodynamic Evolution of a Sandy Meander Bend Downstream of the Three Gorges Dam and Impact on Waterway Navigation

open access: yesWater, 2022
The Three Gorges Dam (TGD) in the Yangtze River profoundly regulates the downstream river discharge and sediment load, causing significant river morphodynamic changes since 2003. Understanding such changes is vital for managing the navigational waterway.

Intertwined Eco‐Morphodynamic Evolution of Salt Marshes and Emerging Tidal Channel Networks

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2021
The formation and development of tidal channels and salt marshes are controlled by complex interactions between hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and vegetation dynamics.

Effects of Vegetation, Sediment Supply and Sea Level Rise on the Morphodynamic Evolution of Tidal Channels

open access: yesWater Resources Research, 2021
Tidal channels play a leading role in the morphodynamic evolution of tidal environments by driving the exchange of water, sediments, and nutrients within these systems.

Morphodynamic evolution of double‐barred beaches [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2006
The linear and nonlinear morphological behavior of double‐barred coastal systems under the forcing of obliquely incident waves is studied using a nonlinear numerical model. The linearly most unstable bed forms consist of crescentic patterns (rip channels), whose spacing depends on the magnitude of the longshore current velocity.

Morphodynamic Evolution of a Nourished Beach with Artificial Sandbars: Field Observations and Numerical Modeling

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
Beach nourishment, a common practice to replenish an eroded beach face with filling sand, has become increasingly popular as an environmentally friendly soft engineering measure to tackle coastal erosion.
