Connected Morphological Operators for Binary Images [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Image Understanding, 1999
Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive discussion on connected morphological operators for binary images. Introducing a connectivity on the underlying space, every image induces a partition of the space in foreground and background components. A connected operator is an operator that coarsens this partition for every input image.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Hyperspectral colon tissue cell classification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A novel algorithm to discriminate between normal and malignant tissue cells of the human colon is presented. The microscopic level images of human colon tissue cells were acquired using hyperspectral imaging technology at contiguous wavelength intervals ...

Morphological gradient operators for colour images [PDF]

open access: yes2004 International Conference on Image Processing, 2004. ICIP '04., 2005
A new morphological gradient operator for colour images is introduced that can be viewed as a direct extension of the well known morphological gradient. In this approach, each pixel is considered as multivariate data and its output is the maximum distance between any two points within a structuring element, determined by a norm.

Morphological Operators for Image Sequences [PDF]

open access: yesComputer Vision and Image Understanding, 1995
This paper presents a unifying approach to the problem of morphologically processing image sequences (or, equivalently, vector-valued images) by means of lattice theory, thus providing a mathematical foundation for vector morphology. Lattice theory is an abstract algebraic tool that has been extensively used as a theoretical framework for scalar ...

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Segmentation of Overlapping Cervical Cells in Normal Pap Smear Images Using Distance-Metric and Morphological Operation

open access: yesCommIT Journal, 2017
The automatic interpretation of Pap Smear image is one of challenging issues in some aspects. Accurate segmentation for each cell is an important procedure that must be done so that no information is lost during the evaluation process.

Anaesthesia Fluid Detection in 3D Contrast Enhanced Ultrasound Image [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Ultrasound medical image has disadvantage on displaying anaesthesia fluid due to its low intensity. Using contrast agent to enhance brightness of fluid area makes it possible to extract fluid area from acquired 3D image. This paper proposes

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...
