Morphological changes, beach inundation and overwash caused by an extreme storm on a low-lying embayed beach bounded by a dune system (NW Mediterranean) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The geomorphological evolution of a low-lying, micro-tidal sandy beach in the western Mediterranean, Pals beach, was characterized using airborne Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data. Data were collected in prior to and six months after the impact of

Morphologic variability of the mitral valve leaflets [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2017
The rapid development of surgical and less-invasive percutaneous mitral valve repair procedures has increased interest in mitral valve anatomy. We characterize the morphologic variability of the mitral valve leaflets and provide the size of their particular parts. We studied 200 autopsied human hearts from white individuals without any valvar diseases ...

The influence of leaf characteristics on epiphyllic cover : a test of hypotheses with artificial leaves [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Studies of epiphyll ecology have been hindered by the biochemical and morphological variability of the leaf substrate. The use of artificial (plastic ribbon tape) leaves solved that problem in a study done at the Braulio Carrillo National Park, Costa ...
