Visual semiquantitative (SQ) assessment of the radiographs by a trained and experienced observer is the "gold standard" method to detect vertebral fractures. Vertebral morphometry is a quantitative method to identify osteoporotic vertebral fractures based on the measurement of vertebral heights.

There is as yet no agreement about the criteria by which to arrive at an imaging diagnosis of a vertebral fracture. Because high-grade fractures result in alterations in vertebral shape, 1 possible avenue of diagnosis has been to quantitate changes in vertebral shape.

Intelligent Platelet Morphometry
Trends in Biotechnology, 2021Technological advances in image-based platelet analysis or platelet morphometry are critical for a better understanding of the structure and function of platelets in biological research as well as for the development of better clinical strategies in medical practice.

Histopathological examination of peripheral nerves is often complemented by morphometric analysis in both clinical and research settings. However, existing manual or semi-automated methods are highly tedious, labour intensive and time-consuming, whereas fully automated morphometry is prone to error from the conversion of maldetected particles to ...

Quantitative histomorphometric assessment of bone biopsies represents a powerful and informative method for the study of metabolic bone diseases. It is the gold standard against which the noninvasive "diagnostic" markers of bone metabolism as well as newly available therapeutic modalities are tested.

At its simplest, voxel-based morphometry (VBM) involves a voxelwise comparison of regional gray matter ‘density’ between two groups of subjects. Density here refers to the relative amount of gray matter and should not be confused with cell packing density (number of cells per unit volume of neuropil).

Osteoporotic vertebral fracture often results in asymptomatic and atraumatic deformity of vertebral body, therefore the qualitative radiological evaluation alone may lead to disagreement about whether a vertebra is fractured. Morphometry based on measurements of vertebral body heights is a reliable and reproducible technique for vertebral fracture ...

Bone Morphometry in Alcoholics
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1982The osteoclast activity (number of osteoclasts per surface bone section) and the osteoid abundance (percentage of trabecular bone surface covered with osteoid) were measured in iliac crest biopsies from 38 men with alcoholism. These patients had histories of decades of over-consumption of alcohol and repeated injuries, as well as medical complications.

The human orbit is a complex anatomic region, which plays predominant role in the evaluation of craniofacial complex. A thorough understanding of the relationship of the distance from orbital rim to the important vital structures of the orbital apex is required for the surgeon to perform safe and effective surgery. To evaluate and compare the depth and ...
