Complexity of diatom response to Lateglacial and Holocene climate and environmental change in ancient, deep and oligotrophic Lake Ohrid (Macedonia and Albania) [PDF]
© Author(s) 2016. Lake Ohrid (Macedonia and Albania) is a rare example of a deep, ancient Mediterranean lake and is a key site for palaeoclimate research in the northeastern Mediterranean region. This study conducts the analysis of diatoms as a proxy for

New data concerning the early middle miocene on the southern slopes of Fruška Gora (Northern Serbia): A case study from the Mutalj quarry [PDF]
During the last few years, geological research at the southern slopes of Fruška Gora Mt. enabled the discovery of different Miocene units (undivided the Lower Miocene and Middle Miocene Badenian, predominantly). This is primarily thinking of the

Possible earthquake trigger for 6th century mass wasting deposit at Lake Ohrid (Macedonia/Albania) [PDF]
Lake Ohrid shared by the Republics of Albania and Macedonia is formed by a tectonically active graben within the south Balkans and suggested to be the oldest lake in Europe. Several studies have shown that the lake provides a valuable record of climatic

Morphotectonics of mass movements on slopes
The study describes the neotectonic effects on morphology of mass movements. Whilst the external (meteorological or seismic) processes are the immediate triggers of mass movements, their location and orientation is pre-designed by the tectonics of the area. The direction of mass movement is naturally in the direction down the slope of the valleys.
