Twenty‐year study of in‐hospital and postdischarge mortality following emergency general surgical admission

Mortality after discharge following emergency general surgery remains poorly studied. This study explored the trends in mortality rate over a 20‐year time frame at inpatient, 30‐day, 90‐day and 1‐year endpoints. The mortality rate decreased over time, but medium‐term mortality remained high.
