Physical-mechanical characterization of hydraulic and non-hydraulic lime based mortars for a French porous limestone [PDF]
The focus of the study presented in this paper is to provide reliable criteria that can be used to estimate the degree of compatibility between the French limestone tuffeau and mortar. It is suggested through this study to use the same parent material (i.e., tuffeau) as mortar.

Facile Preparation of Durable Multicolor Superhydrophobic Coatings for Concrete Protection
The colored superhydrophobic coatings (CSC)multi‐colored superhydrophobic coatings prepared by a simplified one‐step spraying method to demonstrate exceptional durability and stability following prolonged mechanical abrasion and tape stripping tests, as well as under a range of acidic, alkaline, and harsh environmental conditions.

Jet cooking dramatically improves the wet strength of soy adhesives
Abstract The impact of jet cooking on shear strength of soy‐and‐water adhesives was investigated to understand the higher shear strength of commercial soy protein isolates compared to soy flours. Soy flour‐based wood adhesives are appealing because of their bio‐based content, low formaldehyde emission, and low cost, but their commercial application is ...

Finite Element Modeling of the Transition Zone between Aggregat and Mortar in Concrete [PDF]
Visual observations to the Interfacial Transition Zone (ITZ) between aggregate and mortar in concrete showed that this area differs significantly to the bulk mortar, further away from the ITZ.

Autonomous Repair in Cementitous Material by Combination of Superabsorbent Polymers and Polypropylene Fibres: A Step Towards Sustainable Infrastructure [PDF]
Manual maintenance and repair of cracks in concrete structures are often unsustainable because of associated labor, capital and environmental damage. Introduction of microfibers and superabsorbent polymers is a material solution to restrict crack propagation and enhance self-healing efficiency.

The design, optimization and characterization of a new bilayer painting system is presented. The underlying layer is engineered to provide exceptional thermal insulation through the synergistic effect of hollow perlite microspheres and micrometer‐sized cellulose particles. The external painting layer is designed to induce the formation of a homogeneous

This study investigates how laser‐micromachined patterns enhance the interfacial and mechanical properties of bioinspired ceramic composites. The ±45° micro‐pattern significantly improved interfacial bonding and damage dissipation energy by 107%, while integrating micro‐ and macro‐designs increased energy absorption by 60%.
