Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Economic Policy Uncertainty, Financial Reporting Quality, and Audit Fees: Examining the Role of Industry Characteristics and International Accounting Standards [PDF]
Using a large international sample, the author investigated the effects of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on financial reporting quality (FRQ) and audit (AF). For this analysis, he used the Baker et al. (2016) EPU index and find a negative association

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Measurement of the Effective Weak Mixing Angle in Events
We present a measurement of the effective weak mixing angle parameter sin2θeffℓ in pp¯→Z/γ*→μ+μ− events at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV, collected by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider and corresponding to 8.6 fb−1 of integrated luminosity.

PARP‐1 is a key enzyme in the DNA damage response, and its inhibition induces cancer cell death via synthetic lethality. Au(I)‐based drugs, such as aurothioglucose and sodium aurothiomalate, block PARP‐1's DNA‐dependent activity by targeting its zinc finger domains.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Angular distribution of the FCNC process
In this work, we study the flavor-changing neutral-current process Bc→Ds*(→Dsπ)ℓ+ℓ− (ℓ=e, μ, τ). The relevant weak transition form factors are obtained by using the covariant light-front quark model, in which the main inputs, i.e., the meson wave functions of Bc and Ds*, are adopted as the numerical wave functions from the solution of the Schrödinger ...
