Mechanically modulated tunneling resistance in monolayer MoS2 [PDF]
We report on the modulation of tunneling resistance in MoS2 monolayers using a conductive atomic force microscope (AFM). The resistance between the conductive AFM probe and the bottom electrode separated by a monolayer MoS2 is reversibly reduced by up to 4 orders of magnitude, which is attributed to enhanced quantum tunneling when the monolayer is ...

Temperature-dependent phonon shifts in monolayer MoS2 [PDF]
We present a combined experimental and computational study of two-dimensional molybdenum disulfide and the effect of temperature on the frequency shifts of the Raman-active E2g and A1g modes in the monolayer. While both peaks show an expected red-shift with increasing temperature, the frequency shift is larger for the A1g mode than for the E2g mode ...

First-Principles Insight Into Au-Doped MoS2 for Sensing C2H6 and C2H4
C2H6 and C2H4 gases are two typical decompositions produced by partial discharge of transformer oil. To fully evaluate the feasibility of MoS2-based materials for the detection of C2H6 and C2H4 gases, the adsorption of C2H6 and C2H4 molecules on ...

Ultrasensitive photodetectors based on monolayer MoS2
Two-dimensional materials are an emerging class of new materials with a wide range of electrical properties and potential practical applications. Although graphene is the most well-studied two-dimensional material, single layers of other materials, such as insulating BN (ref.

Valley polarization in MoS2 monolayers by optical pumping [PDF]
We report experimental evidences on selective occupation of the degenerate valleys in MoS2 monolayers by circularly polarized optical pumping. Over 30% valley polarization has been observed at K and K' valley via the polarization resolved luminescence spectra on pristine MoS2 monolayers.

Adsorption of NO2 and NH3 on single-atom (Co, Pd, Pt)-decorated 2H-MoS2 monolayer: A DFT study
The single-atom decoration has attracted significant research interest by virtue of its critical role in modulating the electronic structure of transition metal dichalcogenides, and has been widely used in the fields of single-atom catalysis.

Sub‐bandgap activated charges transfer in a graphene‐MoS2‐graphene heterostructure
Monolayers of transition metal dichalcogenides are semiconducting materials which offer many prospects in optoelectronics. A monolayer of molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) has a direct bandgap of 1.88 eV.

Monolayers of MoS2 as an oxidation protective nanocoating material [PDF]
First-principle calculations are employed to investigate the interaction of oxygen with ideal and defective MoS2 monolayers. Our calculations show that while oxygen atoms are strongly bound on top of sulfur atoms, the oxygen molecule only weakly interacts with the surface.

Strain engineering in monolayer WS2, MoS2, and the WS2/MoS2 heterostructure [PDF]
Mechanically exfoliated monolayers of WS2, MoS2 and their van der Waals heterostructure were fabricated on flexible substrate so that uniaxial tensile strain can be applied to the two-dimensional samples. The modification of the band structure under strain was investigated by micro-photoluminescence spectroscopy at room temperature as well as by first ...
