Queen Esther Mosaics: The Hidden and The Revealed

open access: yesJournal of Mosaic Research, 2014
As our world becomes more and more fractured in the 21st century, the archetypal story of individualism can be compared to fragmented elements (tesserae) being made whole again; we can’t heal the world until we heal ourselves. My work is a reconstruction

Single‐Cell Metabolic Imaging and Digital Scoring of Fat Tissue Remodeling by Label‐Free Metabolic Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mid‐infrared optoacoustic microscopy (MiROM) acquires lipid‐ and protein‐ associated vibrational contrast in intact fat tissue without dyes, preserving native tissue architecture. Through lateral and axial segmentation, MiROM tracks intrinsic intracellular changes during postnatal remodeling. A quantitative spatial analysis tool (Q‐SAT) maps white‐ and

Intelligent Stain‐Free Histology on Structural Colorimetric Nanocavities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chen and Gan et al. introduce a label‐free imaging platform using inexpensive Nanocavity‐on‐Silicon (NOS) slides. These slides transform subtle tissue variations into vivid structural colors, enabling high‐contrast histological imaging under a regular optical microscope. This stain‐free approach reveals morphological details comparable to traditional H&

Roman Villa of Rabaçal, Penela, Portugal A Mediterranean Production Centre and Palatial Home with Mosaic Floors from the Late Antiquity in the Territory of the Ciuitas of Conimbriga and the Lands of Sicó

open access: yesJournal of Mosaic Research, 2019
Considering that the word Villa at the same time designated an architectural structure and a land structure, at least three architectural types of Farm House or Pars Rustica are known in western Roman Villae (LEVEAU, BUFFAT, 2008, pp. 134- 135). The frst

Allogeneic Immune Cell Perfusion Inhibits the Growth of Vascularized 3D In Vitro Tumor Models, Induces Vascular Regression and Desmoplasia, but Promotes Tumor Cell Invasion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a vascularized 3D tumor model to investigate immune–stromal–tumor interactions under allogeneic PBMC perfusion. While immune cells induced tumor shrinkage, they also promoted vascular regression, stromal activation, and cancer cell invasion.

Autophagy Activators Normalize Aberrant Tau Proteostasis and Rescue Synapses in Human Familial Alzheimer's Disease iPSC‐Derived Cortical Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A new cerebrocortical organoid model using isogenic hiPSCs with familial Alzheimer's mutations recapitulates key AD features, including amyloid‐beta and phospho‐Tau aggregation, neuronal hyperexcitability, and synapse loss. Single‐cell RNA‐seq reveals aberrant pathways in excitatory and inhibitory neurons.

On the Style of Byzantine Art of the VI–VII Centuries [PDF]

open access: yesВестник Свято-Филаретовского института, 2013
In the Early Byzantine art already two main tendencies begin to take shape: creation of an image by old classical means with their little modification, and substitution of the classical artistic language with the stricter one far from antiquity.

NuSAP Safeguards Centriole Integrity to Mediate CEP57‐CEP152 Torus Recruitment for Proper Engagement

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel role for the microtubule stabilizer NuSAP at centrioles. NuSAP depletion destabilizes the centriole's tubulin structure, causing premature disengagement, PCM defects, and mis‐localization of the CEP57‐CEP63‐CEP152 complex. By reinforcing centriole architecture, NuSAP enables early CEP57 loading and initiates a newly proposed ...

These stones still speak: the progress of research on late Roman and early Byzantine mosaic pavements in the Eastern Mediterranean [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Art Historiography, 2011
The perennial discovery of the archaeological remains of mosaic floors in the eastern Mediterranean has long made them a subject of investigation by archaeologists, art historians, and historians.

Embedded CRISPRi Enhances Gene‐Silencing Efficiency in Drosophila

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current CRISPR interference (CRISPRi) technology in Drosophila has limited efficiency. This study introduces the emCRISPRi platform, which significantly enhances transcriptional silencing efficacy by embedding inhibitory domains within the dCas9 architecture.
