Upon JEV infection, ZNF33B recruits METTL14 to stabilize the METTL3‐METTL14 m6A methyltransferase complex, leading to increased m6A modification of host transcripts, including Trim25 mRNA. ZNF33B selectively binds m6A‐modified sites on Trim25 mRNA and accelerates its decay, resulting in reduced TRIM25 protein abundance.

Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

Evolution of Mosquito-Based Arbovirus Surveillance Systems in Australia [PDF]
Control of arboviral disease is dependent on the sensitive and timely detection of elevated virus activity or the identification of emergent or exotic viruses. The emergence of Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) in northern Australia revealed numerous problems with performing arbovirus surveillance in remote locations.

Environmental Predictors of Human West Nile Virus Infections, Colorado
To determine whether environmental surveillance of West Nile virus–positive dead birds, mosquito pools, equines, and sentinel chickens helped predict human cases in metropolitan Denver, Colorado, during 2003, we analyzed human surveillance data and ...

The ecological and epidemiological consequences of species expanding into new areas are growing concomitantly with climate change. Those aiming to monitor species expanding in range must make optimal use of finite resources to deliver effective surveillance capable of detecting new incursions and range expansions.

Hydroxypropyl‐β‐cyclodextrin (HPβCD)–N,N‐diethyl‐meta‐toluamide (DEET) complex extended tick repellency to 168 h. Full protection against Aedes aegypti for 7 h with HPβCD‐DEET. HPβCD reduced DEET release and skin retention significantly. No embryotoxicity observed below 325 mg L−1 in zebrafish model.

Surveillance of adult Aedes mosquitoes in Selangor, Malaysia [PDF]
AbstractObjectiveTo determine the effectiveness of using sticky traps and the NS1 dengue antigen kit for the surveillance of Aedes mosquitoes for dengue control.MethodsApartments were selected in a dengue‐endemic area, and sticky traps were set to capture adult Aedes mosquitoes.
