Applications of Time-Domain Back-Projection SAR Processing in the Airborne Case [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The Back-Projection Algorithm is a SAR processing approach that uses time-domain convolution of the SAR data in order to perform SAR focusing. Some benefits of this approach are exact inversion, ideal motion compensation including topography information ...

A novel approach for ANFIS modelling based on Grey system theory for thermal error compensation

open access: yes, 2014
The fast and accurate modelling of thermal errors in machining is an important aspect for the implementation of thermal error compensation. This paper presents a novel modelling approach for thermal error compensation on CNC machine tools.

Rate-distortion performance of dual-layer motion compensation employing different mesh densities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We describe a dual layer algorithm for mesh-based motion estimation. The proposed algorithm, employing meshes at different scales, aims to improve the rate-distortion performance at fixed bit rates.

Role of Intrinsic Electron Trapping in Negative Charging of Amorphous Alumina

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intrinsic electron trapping in amorphous Al2O3 is examined using hybrid‐DFT models spanning a wide density range. Both spontaneous and thermally activated trapping are identified, with pronounced spontaneous localization in dense, partly crystallized structures.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

ADRC system of FSM for image motion compensation

open access: yes, 2017
In order to increase the speed controlling accuracy of fast steering mirror (FSM) for image motion compensation and thus to increase the definition of picture taken by moving camera, active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) is designed.

Designing a compact MRI motion phantom

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering, 2016
Even today, dealing with motion artifacts in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a challenging task. Image corruption due to spontaneous body motion complicates diagnosis. In this work, an MRI phantom for rigid motion is presented. It is used to generate

Swelling‐Programmed Topographical Guidance for Dynamic Spheroid Self‐Assembly via a Mechanochemical Hydrogel Niche

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A swelling‐programmed micropatterned hydrogel guides adherent cells through a controlled transition from cell–matrix anchoring to cadherin‐mediated cell–cell compaction, enabling rapid assembly of high‐viability spheroids with defined size and morphology.

Tissue Tracking and Motion Compensation for Robotic Surgery

open access: yes, 2017
Thesis (Master's)--University of Washington, 2017-06The ability to negate tissue motion without complex physical constraints would greatly benefit beating heart surgery, procedures where respiration causes tissue movement, and in the case of physically ...
