Dynamic characteristics of unsaturated loess and their influences on ground vibration parameters of sites

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The dynamic triaxial tests on the unsaturated loess in Xiji region of Ningxia under different water contents are carried out. Based on the analysis of the influences of water content on the dynamic characteristics of loess, the influences of water ...

A Spectroscopic Method to Measure Macho Proper Motions

open access: yes, 1994
A Massive Compact Halo Object (Macho) that lenses a background star will magnify different parts of the rotating stellar disk by varying amounts. The differential magnification will cause a shift in the centroid of the star's spectral lines during the ...

Combined Analysis of the Binary-Lens Caustic-Crossing Event MACHO 98-SMC-1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We fit the data for the binary-lens microlensing event MACHO 98-SMC-1 from 5 different microlensing collaborations and find two distinct solutions characterized by binary separation d and mass ratio q: (d,q)=(0.54,0.50) and (d,q)=(3.65,0.36), where d is ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Video-Based Respiratory Rate Estimation for Infants in the NICU

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine
Objective: Non-contact respiratory rate estimation (RR) is highly desirable for infants because of their sensitive skin. We propose a novel RGB video-based RR estimation method for infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that can accurately ...

Accurate blood flow measurements: are artificial tracers necessary? [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Imaging-based blood flow measurement techniques, such as particle image velocimetry, have become an important tool in cardiovascular research. They provide quantitative information about blood flow, which benefits applications ranging from developmental ...

Separating intrinsic and microlensing variability using parallax measurements [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In gravitational lens systems with 3 or more resolved images of a quasar, the intrinsic variability may be unambiguously separated from the microlensing variability through parallax measurements from 3 observers when there is no relative motion of the ...

A Complete Set of Solutions For Caustic-Crossing Binary Microlensing Events [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
We present a method to analyze binary-lens microlensing light curves with one well-sampled fold caustic crossing. In general, the surface of chi^2 shows extremely complicated behavior over the 9-parameter space that characterizes binary lenses.

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

Vibration quenching device using Hula-Hoop and displacement magnification mechanism

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2020
This paper deals with the vibration quenching problem of the single-degree-of-freedom system with a limited power supply using a Hula-Hoop and displacement magnification mechanism. This system is forced by the centrifugal force of rotating unbalance.
