Asymptotically pendulum-like motions of the hess-appel'rot gyroscope
Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, 1984Abstract Asymptotically pendulum-like motions of a heavy rigid body whose centre of gravity lies on the perpendicular to the circular cross-section of the gyration ellipsoid (the Hess-Appel'rot gyroscope) is investigated. Lyapunov's theorem is used to show that the initial position and initial angular velocity of this gyroscope can also be chosen ...

Relativistic motion of a gyroscope around the Moon
Il Nuovo Cimento B Series 11, 1975The general-relativistic effect on the motion of the axis of a free-falling gyroscope around the Moon has been calculated. The Lense-Thirring effect is not measurable. The main effect coming from Einstein’s theory and from other metric theories is measurable anda zero-measurement may be performed along equatorial orbits.
