Leveraging Tendon Vibration to Enhance Pseudo-Haptic Perceptions in VR [PDF]
Pseudo-haptic techniques are used to modify haptic perception by appropriately changing visual feedback to body movements. Based on the knowledge that tendon vibration can affect our somatosensory perception, this paper proposes a method for leveraging tendon vibration to enhance pseudo-haptics during free arm motion.

Cortical Dynamics of Visual Motion Perception: Short-Range and Long Range Apparent Motion [PDF]
This article describes further evidence for a new neural network theory of biological motion perception that is called a Motion Boundary Contour System. This theory clarifies why parallel streams Vl-> V2 and Vl-> MT exist for static form and motion form ...

The perception of color from motion [PDF]
We introduce and explore a color phenomenon which requires the prior perception of motion to produce a spread of color over a region defined by motion. We call this motion-induced spread of color dynamic color spreading. The perception of dynamic color spreading is yoked to the perception of apparent motion: As the ratings of perceived motion increase,

Learning How to Trade-Off Safety with Agility Using Deep Covariance Estimation for Perception Driven UAV Motion Planning [PDF]
We investigate how to utilize predictive models for selecting appropriate motion planning strategies based on perception uncertainty estimation for agile unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) navigation tasks. Although there are variety of motion planning and perception algorithms for such tasks, the impact of perception uncertainty is not explicitly handled ...

The efficiency of biological motion perception [PDF]
Humans can readily perceive biological motion from point-light (PL) animations, which create an image of a moving human figure by tracing the trajectories of a small number of light points affixed to a moving human body. We have applied ideal observer analysis to a standard biological motion discrimination task involving either full-figure or PL ...

Aging does not affect auditory motion discrimination based on interaural level differences
It is well known that aging affects fundamental perceptual functions. Numerous studies have investigated age-related changes in visual motion perception and demonstrated that aging impairs motion processing.

Developmental differences in the perception of naturalistic human movements
IntroductionIt is widely believed that we are more attentive towards moving versus static stimuli. However, the neural correlates underlying the perception of human movements have not been extensively investigated in ecologically valid settings, nor has ...
