On Primitives in Motor Control
Motor Control, 2020The concept of primitives has been used in motor control both as a theoretical construct and as a means of describing the results of experimental studies involving multiple moving elements. This concept is close to Bernstein’s notion of engrams and level of synergies.

Modularity for Motor Control and Motor Learning
2016How the central nervous system (CNS) overcomes the complexity of multi-joint and multi-muscle control and how it acquires or adapts motor skills are fundamental and open questions in neuroscience. A modular architecture may simplify control by embedding features of both the dynamic behavior of the musculoskeletal system and of the task into a small ...

Of the various systems for controlling electric motors, none surpass in interest and economic importance those which make use of electrically actuated switches controlled by automatic or semi-automatic means. A few years ago the drum controller was quite sufficient for any motor then in use.

In this Chapter the main results related to locomotion control are reported. Theoretical results referring to Contraction theory are exploited to design reaction diffusion dynamical systems able to work as stable Central Pattern Generators for multipodal robotic structures. A series of strategies are also discussed referring to the control of migration

Stereoencephalotomy and Motor Control
Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1983Stereotaxic interventions for treatment of specific motor disorders provide the opportunity to investigate motor control in alert cooperative human patients. In contrast to the lesions occurring due to cerebrovascular ischemia or due to head injury, the localization and size of stereotaxic lesions can be determined very precisely.

Motor Control Programs and Walking
The Neuroscientist, 2006The question of how the central nervous system coordinates muscle activity is central to an understanding of motor control. The authors argue that motor programs may be considered as a characteristic timing of muscle activations linked to specific kinematic events. In particular, muscle activity occurring during human locomotion can be accounted for by

Publisher Summary This chapter illustrates that control during sleep is complex, lacking the need to modulate movement of an individual through the external world that is frequently, but not always, generated by the conscious desires of the waking brain.

Analysis and control of the synchronous motor as a control motor
1992Abstract The synchronous motor has been used for many years as a constant speed motor. Owing to remarkable advancements in inverter technique, inverter output voltage, current, and frequency can now be controlled very easily and quickly, and thus the synchronous motor is now used more and more as a fast response servomotor.

A motor control system design with a motor controller chip
Conference Record of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003The design of a motor control system using a Hewlett Packard HCTL-1000 motion control chip is described. The system is a self-contained unit for the control of DC motors, DC brushless motors, and stepper motors. The system consists of a controller and a motor driver.
