Speech motor control

Current Opinion in Neurobiology, 1994
The development of new measurement techniques and improved models of the larynx and the vocal tract have significantly advanced our understanding of speech motor control. Recently, several groups have been using electromagnetic transduction techniques to record tongue movements.

Stepping Motor Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
Abstract An algorithm for computing robust sets of pulse timing for stepping motors that will follow arbitrary but predetermined trajectories is presented. The algorithm uses simulated feedback control and pole assigment techniques to compute the desired torque.

Motor Control by Sensory Cortex

Science, 2010
By a Whisker Every student learns that the sensory cortex is used for processing sensation and the motor cortex is used for perceiving movement. However, in the real world, this may not always be so neatly arranged. Matyas et al. (p.

A motor control system design with a motor controller chip

Conference Record of the IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2003
The design of a motor control system using a Hewlett Packard HCTL-1000 motion control chip is described. The system is a self-contained unit for the control of DC motors, DC brushless motors, and stepper motors. The system consists of a controller and a motor driver.

Modularity for Motor Control and Motor Learning

2016
How the central nervous system (CNS) overcomes the complexity of multi-joint and multi-muscle control and how it acquires or adapts motor skills are fundamental and open questions in neuroscience. A modular architecture may simplify control by embedding features of both the dynamic behavior of the musculoskeletal system and of the task into a small ...

Automatic Motor Control

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1909
Of the various systems for controlling electric motors, none surpass in interest and economic importance those which make use of electrically actuated switches controlled by automatic or semi-automatic means. A few years ago the drum controller was quite sufficient for any motor then in use.

Octopus Motor Control

2020
The octopus, with its eight long and flexible arms, is an excellent example of the independent evolution of highly efficient motor behavior in a soft-bodied animal. Studies will be summarized to show that the amazing behavioral motor abilities of the octopus are achieved through a special embodied organization of its flexible body, unusual morphology ...

Stereoencephalotomy and Motor Control

Electroencephalography and Clinical Neurophysiology, 1983
Stereotaxic interventions for treatment of specific motor disorders provide the opportunity to investigate motor control in alert cooperative human patients. In contrast to the lesions occurring due to cerebrovascular ischemia or due to head injury, the localization and size of stereotaxic lesions can be determined very precisely.

Vestibular motor control

2023
The vestibular system is an essential sensory system that generates motor reflexes that are crucial for our daily activities, including stabilizing the visual axis of gaze and maintaining head and body posture. In addition, the vestibular system provides us with our sense of movement and orientation relative to space and serves a vital role in ensuring
