Robust torque optimization for BLDC spindle motors

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2001
A robust design for torque optimization of brushless DC spindle motors applied in a hard disk drive, using the Taguchi method, is described and illustrated in this paper. The optimal design process takes into consideration noises that arise in the manufacturing process, such as manufacturing tolerances for the stator tooth shape and variation of the ...

Performance improvfment of spindle motor for DVD drive

IEEE International Magnetics Conference, 1999
The brushless spindle motor is widely used for the DVD application. The performances of reading and writing for DVD drive are highly dependent on the dynamic characteristics of this motor. In this paper, a spindle motor with 12-pole, 9-slots, radial winding and driven by the 3-phase circuit is investigated.

Robust design of a spindle motor: a case study

Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2002
Robust design is the process of minimising variability of products and processes in order to improve their quality and reliability. In recent years, it has seen wide spread application in many fields such as mechanical [J Quality Technol 24 (1992) 22], chemical [Quality Engng 9 (1997) 391] and civil [Quality Engng 9 (1997) 441] engineering.

Model for the ? motor stimulation in chelonian muscle spindles

Biological Cybernetics, 1977
A previously proposed model to simulate the behaviour of the chelonian muscle spindle during mechanical stretch has been extended to include the properties of the spindle during activation of the intrafusal muscle fibres. It is assumed that the overall transfer function of the non-activated spindle can be entirely ascribed to the visco-elastic ...

Motor Spindle Modeling and Experimental Characterization

2007
Efficiency of milling operations is often limited by cutting process dynamic instability, that restrains the achievable Material Removal Rate. In order to forecast machining performance it is necessary to consider all key elements that mostly influence instability, due to regenerative chatter: for high speed machining the spindle probably the most ...

Characterstics of motor innervation of muscle spindles in the monkey

American Journal of Anatomy, 1985
AbstractThe motor nerve supplies of four whole muscle spindles and 16 half spindles (equator and one pole) from lumbrical muscles of the monkey were reconstructed by light microscopy of serial, 1‐μm‐thick transverse sections. The 24 poles of spindle were innervated by 37 fusimotor (γ) axons and 18 skeletofusimotor (β) axons.
