Mouldable liquid-crystalline elastomer actuators with exchangeable covalent bonds

Nature Materials, 2013
Liquid-crystal elastomers (LCEs) are a class of actively moving polymers with remarkable practical potential for converting external stimuli into mechanical actuation. However, real-world applications of LCEs are lacking because macroscopic orientation of liquid-crystal order, which is required for reversible actuations, is hard to achieve in practice.

The use of mouldable acrylic for restoration of the temporalis flap donor site

Journal of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgery, 1994
Despite the wide popularity of the pedicled temporalis myofascial flap, aesthetic management of the temporalis donor site has received little attention. A technique for immediate camouflage of the temporalis flap donor site with cold-cure methyl methacrylate, either alone or in combination with residual muscle in the temporal fossa, is presented.

An integrated design of a machine with soft magnetic mouldable composite

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
This paper focuses on the design and the evaluation of a single-phase claw-pole machine that is integrated into a fan drive. The inner stator of the machine is manufactured by using a rotational moulding technology, which allows a high integrability when using plastic matrix Soft Magnetic Mouldable Composite - SM2C. The goal of the design is to develop

Studies on the mouldability of structural foams

2013
In the context of the research project Hybridmould 21, studies on the mouldability of structural foams using hybrid moulds have been carried out. Hybrid injection moulds are considered as an alternative for prototype series or short production runs of large parts.

Preparation and characterization of new mouldable cellulose-AESO biocomposites

Cellulose, 2014
A new concept of using acrylated epoxidized soybean oil (AESO) in the production of 3D cellulose biocomposites was evaluated. Cellulose-AESO composites were prepared by dissolving pulp in N,N-dimethylacetamide/lithium chloride and adding AESO and an initiator to the solutions followed by thermal curing and compression moulding at room temperature.

Evaluation of soft magnetic mouldable composite core motors

2008 18th International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2008
The objective of this paper is to evaluate a single-phase claw pole machine where the magnetic core is made of a soft magnetic mouldable composite material (SM2C). SM2C has low permeability but also very low remagnetization losses, which makes this kind of material very suitable for high frequency applications. Therefore, the high speed characteristics
