Modeling of Cement-Bonded Sand Mould System

International Journal of Manufacturing, Materials, and Mechanical Engineering, 2012
The present paper deals with the forward mapping problem of cement bonded sand mould system using fuzzy logic (FL)-based approaches. It is important to note that the performance of an FL-based approach depends on its knowledge base (KB) that is, rule base and data base. Here, three approaches have been proposed to solve the said problem.

Elution of Foundry Sand and Mould Mixture in Water

Materials Testing, 2008
Abstract Over 90% of iron alloy castings are made in disposable moulds, i.e. in raw synthetic moulds. Raw mould mixture is applied in all production process types. Mould mixture is composed of sand as the basic component, binding material, water, and additives.

Laser Sintering of Silica Sand ? Mechanism and Application to Sand Casting Mould

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2003
Silica sand is commonly used in the foundry industry. With a high melting point of 160°C, the silica sand is normally sintered in a high-temperature furnace. However, silica with contents of calcium, aluminium, magnesium, and chlorine, etc. can form low-melting point eutectics.

Compressive Stresses Caused by Mould Sand Granularity

2003
The aim of this research is to explain how the distribution of moulding sand particles, apart from combination with other components (bentonite and water contents) affects the increase of compressive stresses in the moulding mixture. The granularity of sand and water content have great effect in the increase of compressive stresses.

An Improved Casting Process with Resin‐Sand Moulds

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1950
INCREASED production, reduced cost and better quality of castings are advantages claimed for a new process which was demonstrated during the week of May 8–12 at the 1950 National Foundry Show in Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. The demonstration included production of moulds and pouring of metal by representatives of the Bakelite Division of the Union Carbide ...
