Impact of climate change on mountain environment dynamics . An introduction
Mountains are specific ecosystems, characterised by their diversity and complexity (Messerli and Ives, 1997). Steep topographic, climatic and biological gradients combined with sharp seasonal contrasts favour the triggering of extreme climatic and ...

Reducing Personalization Time and Energy Cost While Walking Outdoors with a Portable Exosuit
Rapid Real‐World Optimization! An AF‐based human‐in‐the‐loop optimization strategy rapidly personalizes a portable hip extension exosuit for incline walking. Real‐time Bayesian optimization of assistive force significantly reduces metabolic energy—up to 16.2%—while converging in just 3 min 24 s.

Origami‐Inspired Structural Design for Aquatic‐Terrestrial Amphibious Robots
This work presents a lightweight amphibious origami robot actuated by a single shape memory alloy wire. A rigid foldable origami structure with displacement amplification enables efficient terrestrial crawling and aquatic swimming. The addition of fan‐shaped units allows controllable turning in both environments.

The Negative Elevation‐Dependent Pattern of Non‐Growing Season CO2 Loss From Alpine Frozen Ground
Substantial organic carbon stores in the soil of high‐elevation regions are vulnerable to rapid warming. The “Third Pole”, encompassing the Tibetan Plateau and adjacent regions, is home to the largest alpine permafrost on the Earth.

Bacterial α‐diversity decreases, but stochasticity and community stability increase across the 15 m‐depth vertical profiles and along the degraded gradient within the active layer. The abundance and interaction of core taxa mainly control community stability in the active and permafrost layers, respectively.

Forestry in a Mountain Environment [PDF]
The importance of mountain forests in several countries is shown and the environmental role of geomorphologic processes, particularly the role of rare events and their significance for forestry, demonstrated. Planning of forestry operations must give recognition to these factors, if long lasting erosion problems are to be avoided.

A Trypsin‐Like Serine Protease ZmNAL1a Fine‐Tunes Maize Floral Transition and Flowering Time
This study identifies a trypsin‐like serine protease, ZmNAL1a, that moves from leaves to the shoot apical meristem. ZmNAL1a promotes the floral transition by degrading TOPLESS‐like corepressor REL2, which thereby enhances the expression of key flowering genes through elevating histone acetylation and relieving REL2–ZmEREBP147‐mediated transcriptional ...
