Green-wavelength terrestrial laser scanning of mountain channel [PDF]
It is crucial to understand and predict how the water and sediment flow in mountain channels for better disaster risk management. Detailed and quantitative measurement of channel and stream-bed structure is in great demand. In this paper, the utility of

Influence of Bed‐Load Transport on Flow Resistance of Step‐Pool Channels
This study investigates the influence of bed‐load transport on flow resistance and bed stability in steep step‐pool channels. A total of 86 flume experiments was performed.

Gravel and boulders mining from mountain stream beds [PDF]
Mountain stream gravel is very often legally and illegally mined and gravel is removed from river beds sometimes on the very large scale which is disastrous for fluvial situation of rivers, for river ecology and river engineering works done for flood ...

Does the karst spring improve fish abiotic habitat in mountain streams? [PDF]
Mountain streams constitute challenging habitat for many fish species due to rapid and variable flow, cool temperature, and limited food resources. Groundwaters recharge by karst spring may however mitigate harsh habit conditions of mountain streams ...

Prediction of mountain stream morphology [PDF]
We use a large and diverse data set from mountain streams around the world to explore relationships between reach‐scale channel morphology and control variables. The data set includes 177 step‐pool reaches, 44 plane‐bed reaches, and 114 pool‐riffle reaches from the western United States, Panama, and New Zealand.

A study of a Cape mountain stream ecosystem and its response to fire [PDF]
Includes bibliographies. This thesis presents the findings of a two-year (1986-1988) study of a mountain stream draining a small catchment in the south-western Cape, South Africa. The catchment was deliberately burnt half-way through the study period. The

Effect of bed load transport on the energy dissipation of step-pool system
Step-pool system is a typical bed micro-morphology in high gradient mountain rivers, which creates extremely high turbulence intensity and thus dissipates a majority the flow energy. The increase of the bed load transport intensity changed the flow field
