Aoraki Mount Cook: Environmental Change on an Iconic Mountaineering Route
Aoraki Mount Cook is New Zealand's highest mountain and a popular destination for climbers. This study combined historical accounts, photos, and geophysical surveys with modern-day spatial analysis, popular narratives, and interviews to explore how ...

Variational methods for degenerate Kirchhoff equations [PDF]
For a degenerate autonomous Kirchhoff equation which is set on $\mathbb{R}^N$ and involves the Berestycki-Lions type nonlinearity, we cope with the cases $N=2,3$ and $N\geq5$ by using mountain pass and symmetric mountain pass approaches and by using Clark theorem respectively.

Gravitational waves from neutron-star mountains [PDF]
Rotating neutron stars that support long-lived, non-axisymmetric deformations known as mountains have long been considered potential sources of gravitational radiation. However, the amplitude from such a source is very weak and current gravitational-wave interferometers have yet to witness such a signal. The lack of detections has provided upper limits

Abstract Straw returning is important for rural ecological management and sustainable agricultural development. Using farm survey data for Anhui Province, China, in 2020, we applied the double‐hurdle model to investigate the impact of agricultural machinery services and land fragmentation on farmers' straw‐returning behavior, and to explore the ...

Mountain building of solid quark stars [PDF]
One of the key differences between normal neutron and (bare) quark stars is relevant to the fact that the former are gravitationally bound while the latter self-confined unless their masses approach the maximum mass. This difference results in the possibility that quark stars could be very low massive whereas neutron stars cannot.

Foreign labor, peer‐networking and agricultural efficiency in the Italian dairy sector
Abstract While the presence of immigrants in the agricultural sector is widely acknowledged, the empirical evidence on its economic consequences is lacking, especially from a microeconomic perspective. Using the Farm Accountancy Data Network panel data for Italian dairy farms in the period 2008–2018, the present study investigates the relationship ...

Moving mountains and white spots of Ceres [PDF]
Among surprising results of NASA's Dawn spacecraft mission at dwarf planet Ceres are enigmatic bright spots inside Occator crater and a lone tall pyramid mountain. Here we explain the appearance of such spots, weird mountains, and concomitant craters on celestial bodies. The phenomenon is as follows.
