Mousterian fires from Grotte XVI (Dordogne, France)
Antiquity, 1995A new study from the Dordogne decisively identifies and confirms the use of fires in a Mousterian context; and the thick ashy deposit, identified as the remains of burnt lichen, clarifies the real nature of those distinctive deposits, known from other sites of the era.

The Mousterian industry in Dalmatia, Croatia
2004The characteristics of Mousterian industry in Dalmatia (south Croatia) are little researched although rich lithic material has been collected on the surface of open-air sites. The only systematicaly excavated Mousterian cave site in the region, with clear stratigraphic context, is Mujina Pećina.

The Mousterian Industry from Bisitun Cave (Iran)
Paléorient, 1984Bisitun, a Middle Paleolithic cave site in northwestern Iran, was excavated over thirty years ago by C. Coon. Its Mousterian industry, as later described by Skinner, has been thought to be characteristic of other Mousterian industries from that region, what is generally called the Zagros Group Mousterian.

The Antiquaries Journal, 1934The area north of the Middle Thames situated between Acton and West Drayton reveals extensive deposits which have been referred by H.M. Geological Survey to the Boyn Hill, Taplow, and Low terraces. As within the valley of the Lower Thames, these features have yielded implements and mammalian remains.
