Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

The horizontal curvature of point-to-point movements does not depend on simply the planning space

open access: yes, 2010
Point-to-point movements constrained to the horizontal plane are generally straight, although they exhibit slight deviations from straightness. Unconstrained horizontal movements (i.e., movements where the hand is lifted) are more curved in their ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Otter <em>Lutra lutra</em> movements assessed by genotyped spraints in southern Italy

open access: yesHystrix, the Italian Journal of Mammalogy, 2006
<b>Abstract</b><br> This paper analyses some otter (<em>Lutra lutra</em>) spatial data, obtained by the location of genetically typed spraints in the Pollino national park and surrounding areas (southern Italy).

Early Neolithic Settlement Patterns in Northern Dalmatia

open access: yesOpen Archaeology, 2021
This article focuses on the early Neolithic settlement patterns in northern Dalmatia, located in the middle of the eastern Adriatic. At the present state of research, a total of 35 Neolithic sites have been known in this region, 26 of which belong to the

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Consumer Strategies in Social Movements

open access: yes, 2014
How and why do more social movements use consumer-oriented strategies to promote their causes? This chapter penetrates these questions by focussing on four consumer practices—boycotts, buycotts, discursive actions, and lifestyle commitments—included in ...

Movements of tagged and radio-instrumented wild reindeer in relation to habitat alteration in the Snøhetta region, Norway

open access: yesRangifer, 1986
In winter, 1981, 103 reindeer, out of a population of 3600, were herded into a fence by snowmobiles and marked. During the next 4 1/2 years reindeer were followed from the ground, or by radiolocations from an airplane.
