Moving horizon estimation for induction motors
3rd IEEE International Symposium on Sensorless Control for Electrical Drives (SLED 2012), 2012In this paper we present a systematic model based approach to state and parameter estimation for the induction machine. We use moving horizon estimation (MHE), an optimization based scheme that yields excellent performance and can be used with aggressive controllers such as model predictive controllers.

Moving horizon estimation for undersea docking
OCEANS 2017 - Aberdeen, 2017The paper presents a new methodology for position estimation for terminal control of an AUV to an undersea docking station. It is designed to handle the sparse, noisy and intermittent measurements that can be common with Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) systems.

Particle filtering and moving horizon estimation
Computers & Chemical Engineering, 2006This paper provides an overview of currently available methods for state estimation of linear, constrained and nonlinear systems. The following methods are discussed: Kalman filtering, extended Kalman filtering, unscented Kalman filtering, particle filtering, and moving horizon estimation.

Humanoid state estimation using a moving horizon estimator
Advanced Robotics, 2017AbstractIn this research, a new state estimator based on moving horizon estimation theory is suggested for the humanoid robot state estimation. So far, there are almost no studies on the moving horizon estimator (MHE)-based humanoid state estimator. Instead, a large number of humanoid state estimators based on the Kalman filter (KF) have been proposed.

Constrained linear state estimation—a moving horizon approach
Automatica, 2001In this brief paper, the authors consider moving horizon strategies for constrained linear state estimation. For avoiding a too important growth of the estimation problem as measurements increase, they explore moving horizon strategies and they give sufficient conditions for the stability in the case of linear models subject to constraints on the ...

Robust moving horizon state estimation: Application to bioprocesses
2013 17th International Conference on System Theory, Control and Computing (ICSTCC), 2013In this paper, a robust nonlinear receding-horizon observer is proposed for the estimation of cellular concentration in a bioreactor. In the presence of uncertainties on the model parameter or on the initial state of the system, this estimation problem can lead to poor estimation performance.

Spacecraft Attitude Estimation and Sensor Calibration Using Moving Horizon Estimation
Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 2013This paper presents the real-time moving horizon estimation of a spacecraft’s attitude and sensor calibration parameters, applied to two space mission scenarios. In the first scenario, the attitude is estimated from three-axis magnetometer and gyroscope measurements.

A Moving Horizon Estimator Performance Bound
2010Moving Horizon implementations of the Kalman Filter are widely used to overcome weaknesses of the Kalman Filter, or in problems when the Kalman Filter is not suitable. While these moving horizon approaches often perform well, it is of interest to encapsulate the loss in performance that comes when terms in the Kalman Filter are ignored.

Moving Horizon Estimation for Linear Cascade Systems
2018 15th International Conference on Control, Automation, Robotics and Vision (ICARCV), 2018A structured approach to the problem of state estimation for cascaded linear sub-systems is studied in terms of minimizing a measure of the error relative to a model over a moving horizon of past system input and output observations. A quadratic programming formulation of this optimization problem is considered and two approaches are explored.

CONSTRAINED SPLIT RATE ESTIMATION BY MOVING HORIZON
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2005Abstract The paper presents a method for the constrained Moving Horizon Estimation of origin-destination (OD) matrices for traffic networks. In traffic systems split ratios are important parameters for OD estimation and for control problems as well.
