Study on optimal safety and low-noise control for weapon launching from underwater vehicles
Objective Low-speed launching of weapons from underwater vehicles can greatly reduce radiated noise. However, it may lead to collisions between the weapon leaving the launch tube and the moving vehicle if the launching velocity is too low.

Abstract Spatial heterogeneity, manifested as strong variability in hydraulic conductivity (K) within geological formations, exerts a fundamental control on groundwater flow and solute transport. Because K can vary over multiple orders of magnitude in complex three‐dimensional patterns, predicting contaminant plume migration remains a long‐standing ...

In the aftermath of a large earthquake, several practical constraints affect the systematic collection of data for assessing building damage. The available data are therefore typically incomplete, frequently missing key information such as the type of construction, age and geographic location.

Furrow tillage resolves the conventional‐vs.‐no‐tillage trade‐off by simultaneously cutting CO2 efflux to 2.0–3.0 g C m−2 d−1 and unlocking high nutrient availability for the rice rhizosphere. This scalable agronomic solution strengthens soil health, enhances plant physiology, reshapes microbial metabolism, and shifts paddy systems toward a net ...

This study utilized an extensive optimization involving n = 540 design of experiments to produce a superior drainage cannula design. Compared to the clinically used Maquet model, our optimized design demonstrated reduced blood stagnation volumes, increased cannula tip velocities, and higher upper body drainage, potentially minimizing risk of thrombosis

Genomic Vulnerability of a Threatened Possum in a Biodiversity and Climate Change Hotspot
ABSTRACT Spatial variation in the magnitude and pace of climate change impacts means some species will be more affected than others. This includes those occurring within global biodiversity hotspots, regions with exceptional concentrations of endemic species that have often been shaped by long‐term climatic stability.

Kriging for Interpolation in Random Simulation [PDF]
Whenever simulation requires much computer time, interpolation is needed. There are several interpolation techniques in use (for example, linear regression), but this paper focuses on Kriging. This technique was originally developed in geostatistics by D ...

Private Outsourced Kriging Interpolation [PDF]
Kriging is a spatial interpolation algorithm which provides the best unbiased linear prediction of an observed phenomena by taking a weighted average of samples within a neighbourhood. It is widely used in areas such as geo-statistics where, for example,
