Stabilizing Cationic Palladium Single‐Atom Sites on Heteroatom‐Doped Carbon for Selective Hydrogen Peroxide Electrosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this research, it is demonstrated that dual nitrogen and sulfur doping in hollow carbon spheres creates a tunable coordination environment that stabilizes cationic Pd single atoms as robust organometallic complexes, enabling high selectivity and stability for electrochemical hydrogen peroxide production under harsh acidic and peroxide‐rich ...

On the Equivalence of the Weighted Least Squares and the Generalised Least Squares Estimators, with Applications to Kernel Smoothing [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper establishes the conditions under which the generalised least squares estimator of the regression parameters is equivalent to the weighted least squares estimator.

Windtunnel model position and orientation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this contribution the determination of the position of moving and deforming objects in windtunnels from CCD camera information is studied. An analytical approach is discussed which solves the problem directly from manipulating nonlinear distance ...

Microsphere Autolithography—A Scalable Approach for Arbitrary Patterning of Dielectric Spheres

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MicroSphere Autolithography (µSAL) enables scalable fabrication of patchy particles with customizable surface motifs. Focusing light through dielectric microspheres creates well defined, tunable patches via a conformal poly(dopamine) photoresist. Nearly arbitrary surface patterns can be achieved, with the resolution set by the index contrast between ...

Stability Analysis of Curved Beams Based on First-Order Shear Deformation Theory and Moving Least-Squares Approximation

open access: yesBuildings
Based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and moving least-squares approximation (MLS), a new meshfree method that considers the effects of geometric nonlinearity and the pre- and post-buckling behaviors of curved beams is proposed.

Asymptotic Prediction Mean Squared Error for Strongly Dependent Processes with Estimated Parameters [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we deal with the prediction theory of long memory processes. After investigating the general theory relating to convergence of moments of the nonlinear least squares estimators, we evaluate the asymptotic prediction mean squared error of ...

Multiple Twinning in Nacre and Aragonite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electron backscatter diffraction map of a cluster of geologic aragonite, exhibiting single, double, and triple twins. The whole cluster is approximately 2 cm wide. Colors indicate crystal orientations, so that pixels where the a‐, b‐, and c‐axis is perpendicular to the image plane are green, red, and blue, respectively.

3D Digital Light Processing of Redox‐Active Polymers for Electrochemical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
3D printing of electrochemically switchable conducting polymers is achieved by Digital Light Processing of redox‐active carbazole‐based polymer materials. Complex 2D and 3D architectures including dot arrays and pyramids clearly show the potential for novel 3D switchable electrochemical devices for sensors, electrochromic displays as well as 3D printed

Laser‐Based Sculpturing of Embedded Ultrathin Metal‐Oxide Nanopores for Enhanced Biomolecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlled laser‐drilling of embedded HfO2 membranes creates three layer nanopores with Gaussian‐shaped cavities sculptured in the supporting layers. These embedded solid‐state nanopores slow DNA translocation by 12‐fold compared to SiNx pores, enabling high‐resolution, label‐free detection of short DNAs, RNAs, and proteins.
