A Study of Baseline Estimates [PDF]

open access: yes
Baseline estimates are generated using the Box-Jenkins time series expectation of non-promoted volume calculated at the store/week/UPC level. The expectation of sales is a weighted moving average of weekly observations of normal non-promoted volume.

Thermoreflectance Detection of Point Defects Resulting from Focused Ion Beam Milling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam (FIB) milling is a common tool for nanoscale material processing, however irradiation damage, redeposition, and contamination can occur. We use several characterization tools to show FIB‐induced effects beyond 1 mm from the milled area.

Stability Analysis of Curved Beams Based on First-Order Shear Deformation Theory and Moving Least-Squares Approximation

open access: yesBuildings
Based on the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and moving least-squares approximation (MLS), a new meshfree method that considers the effects of geometric nonlinearity and the pre- and post-buckling behaviors of curved beams is proposed.

Some Results on the Identification and Estimation of Vector ARMAX Processes [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper addresses the problem of identifying echelon canonical forms for a vector autoregressive moving average model with exogenous variables using finite algorithms.

On the least squares estimation of threshold autoregressive moving-average models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In the financial market, the volatility of financial assets plays a key role in the problem of measuring market risk in many investment decisions. Insights into economic forces that may contribute to or amplify volatility are thus important.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Asymptotic Prediction Mean Squared Error for Strongly Dependent Processes with Estimated Parameters [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we deal with the prediction theory of long memory processes. After investigating the general theory relating to convergence of moments of the nonlinear least squares estimators, we evaluate the asymptotic prediction mean squared error of ...

Elinvar Materials: Recent Progress and Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Elinvar materials, exhibiting temperature‐invariant elastic modulus, are critical for precision instruments and emerging technologies. This article reviews recent progress in the field, with a focus on the anomalous thermoelastic behavior observed in key material systems.

Adaptive learning in an expectational difference equation with several lags: selecting among learnable REE [PDF]

open access: yes
It is demonstrated in this paper that adaptive learning in least squares sense may be incapable to reduce, in a satisfactory way, the number of attainable equilibria in a rational expectations model.

Tribological Performance of 60NiTi Alloy Under Varying Contact Conditions and Elevated Temperatures in Linear Reciprocating Sliding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the tribological response of 60NiTi alloy under dry, water‐lubricated and high‐temperature conditions. The alloy exhibits decreasing wear volume and friction with increasing temperature due to the formation of protective oxide layers. The work clarifies dominant wear mechanisms and demonstrates the suitability of 60NiTi for high‐
