A Stabilized Incompressible SPH Method by Relaxing the Density Invariance Condition

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2012
A stabilized Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH) is proposed to simulate free surface flow problems. In the ISPH, pressure is evaluated by solving pressure Poisson equation using a semi-implicit algorithm based on the projection method.

Potential of Computer-Aided Engineering in the Design of Ground-Improvement Technologies

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The progress status of jet-grouting construction during the construction phase is difficult to verify and even after the completion of construction, it can be verified only by empirical methods.

Implicit sampling for path integral control, Monte Carlo localization, and SLAM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The applicability and usefulness of implicit sampling in stochastic optimal control, stochastic localization, and simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), is explored; implicit sampling is a recently-developed variationally-enhanced sampling method.

Dual‐Sabatier Optima: How Reaction Mechanism Determines Activity Volcano Map of Dual‐Atom Catalysts for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Dual‐atom catalysts (DACs) for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), where the dissociative mechanism dominates, show a dual‐Sabatier optima volcano map, diverging from the classical single‐peak volcano of the associative mechanism. Potential‐dependent microkinetic modeling and interpretable machine learning rationalize experimental data and provide design ...

A Study of Sediment Behavior for Dam-Break Flow over Granular Bed

open access: yesMathematics
Dam-break flows involve strong non-linearity and complex fluid–solid interactions, often causing severe flooding and structural damage. Particle-based CFD methods, such as the Moving Particle Semi-implicit (MPS) method, are effective in modeling such ...

Numerical Simulations on the Flooding into a Damaged Cabin with a Flexible Bulkhead Based on the Mixed-Mode Function-Modified MPS Method

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2022
Floodwater entering the damaged cabin and impacting the bulkhead can cause damage to the watertight compartment and affect the survival of the ship. The elastic deformation of the bulkhead can slow down the impact and affect the flow field, which affects

Simulating galactic dust grain evolution on a moving mesh

open access: yes, 2018
Interstellar dust is an important component of the galactic ecosystem, playing a key role in multiple galaxy formation processes. We present a novel numerical framework for the dynamics and size evolution of dust grains implemented in the moving-mesh ...

Microscale Mapping of Fiber Strain and Damage in Composite Wrinkled Laminates Using Computed Tomography Assisted Wide‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study combines full‐field tomography with diffraction mapping to quantify radial (ε002$\varepsilon _{002}$) and axial (ε100$\varepsilon _{100}$) lattice strain in wrinkled carbon‐fiber specimens for the first time. Radial microstrain gradients (−14.5 µεMPa$\varepsilon \mathrm{MPa}$−1) are found to signal damage‐prone zones ahead of failure, which ...
