Dimensionality reduction for detection of moving vehicles [PDF]

open access: yesPattern Analysis and Applications, 2011
Automatic acoustic-based vehicle detection is a common task in security and surveillance systems. Usually, a recording device is placed in a designated area and a hardware/software system processes the sounds that are intercepted by this recording device to identify vehicles only as they pass by.

Self-Supervised Moving Vehicle Detection From Audio-Visual Cues

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters, 2022
Robust detection of moving vehicles is a critical task for any autonomously operating outdoor robot or self-driving vehicle. Most modern approaches for solving this task rely on training image-based detectors using large-scale vehicle detection datasets such as nuScenes or the Waymo Open Dataset.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Hazard Detection Prediction Model for Rural Roads Based on Hazard and Environment Properties

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2018
A driver’s reaction time encountering hazards on roads involves different sections, and each section must occur at the right time to prevent a crash. An appropriate reaction starts with hazard detection.

ViBe Moving Vehicle Detection Algorithm Based on Adaptive Threshold and Dual-feature [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji gongcheng, 2018
ViBe algorithm is easy to produce ghost and void phenomena in moving vehicle detection. To solve this problem,a background subtraction algorithm based on dual-feature modeling and adaptive threshold is proposed.Firstly, the background model of the first ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

An Method for Vehicle-Flow Detection and Tracking in Real-Time Based on Gaussian Mixture Distribution

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2013
Vehicle-flow detection and tracking by digital image are one of the most important technologies in the traffic monitoring system. Gaussian mixture distribution method is used to eliminate the influence of moving vehicle firstly in this text, and then we ...

Robust pedestrian detection and tracking from a moving vehicle [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2011
In this paper, we address the problem of multi-person detection, tracking and distance estimation in a complex scenario using multi-cameras. Specifically, we are interested in a vision system for supporting the driver in avoiding any unwanted collision with the pedestrian. We propose an approach using Histograms of Oriented Gradients (HOG) to detect
