Les moyennes montagnes d'Europe occidentale : affaiblissement ou réadaptation des campagnes ? [PDF]

open access: yesNorois, 1997
The medium mountain region of Western Europe is both a rural and a highland area. For this reason, it is victim of conflicting economies, which often leave it in a weak and critical condition. But, as in other rural sectors, major changes are affecting society, agriculture, tourism and other industries of the highlands, thus aggravating internal ...

Berries and bullets: influence of food and mortality risk on grizzly bears in British Columbia Bayas y balas: influencia de la alimentación y el riesgo de mortalidad en los osos grizzly en la Columbia Británica Des baies et des balles: influence de l'alimentation et risques de mortalité chez les ours grizzlys de la Colombie‐Britannique

open access: yesWildlife Monographs, Volume 213, Issue 1, November 2023., 2023
We developed a spatialized surface for the primary food of grizzly bears in southeast British Columbia. After using this huckleberry patch layer to model habitat selection, fitness, and density, in a bottom‐up top‐down paradigm, we found that huckleberry patches near forestry roads contribute very little to fitness and density.

Estimating mountainous plant species richness and diversity for monitoring global change in a protected grassland park

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 3, Page 636-644, September 2023., 2023

L’image de la Chinoise « désexuée » sous le regard de Beauvoir : De la critique à l’idéalisation

open access: yesOrbis Litterarum, Volume 78, Issue 4, Page 315-326, August 2023., 2023

Experimental extensification of mountain grasslands restores plant species richness but not species composition in the mid‐term

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 60, Issue 3, Page 530-540, March 2023., 2023
Land‐use intensification induces a rapid impoverishment of the flora of mountain meadows. Our results demonstrate the potential of mountain hay meadows to passively restore plant species richness after re‐extensification; however, plants communities did not fully recover.

The materials of indigeneity: slate and cement in a Taiwanese indigenous (Paiwan) mountain settlement

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 26, Issue 1, Page 126-145, March 2020., 2020
Abstract This article considers the implications of the adoption of cement and concrete as building materials in a mountain settlement of the Paiwan, one of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan. The presence of these materials in an indigenous settlement might at first glance be interpreted as a sign of cultural assimilation.
