Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Carotid wall imaging with 3D_T2_FFE: sequence parameter optimization and comparison with 3D_T2_SPACE

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Similar to sampling perfection with application-optimized contrast using different flip angle evolutions (SPACE), T2-weighted fast field echo (FFE) also has a black blood effect and a high imaging efficiency.

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.

Identification of TRIM59 as a Key Biomarker for Ferroptosis Resistance and Immunotherapy Response in Bladder Cancer via Multi-Omics Integration and Machine Learning

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark
Background: Bladder cancer (BCa) is a highly heterogeneous malignancy, and precision treatment remains challenging. Identifying molecular biomarkers and risk factors is essential for improving prognosis and therapeutic strategies.

Quantitative dynamic contrast-enhanced parameters and intravoxel incoherent motion facilitate the prediction of TP53 status and risk stratification of early-stage endometrial carcinoma

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology, 2023
The aim of the study was to investigate the value of dynamic contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) and intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) in differentiating TP53-mutant from wild type, low-risk from non-low-risk early-stage endometrial ...

Molecular characterisation of human penile carcinoma and generation of paired epithelial primary cell lines

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Generation of two normal and tumour (cancerous) paired human cell lines using an established tissue culture technique and their characterisation is described. Cell lines were characterised at cellular, protein, chromosome and gene expression levels and for HPV status.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Large magnetoresistance at room-temperature in semiconducting polymer sandwich devices

open access: yes, 2004
We report on the discovery of a large, room temperature magnetoresistance (MR) effect in polyfluorene sandwich devices in weak magnetic fields. We characterize this effect and discuss its dependence on voltage, temperature, film thickness, electrode ...

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.
