Boosting the Nucleophilicity of the Diphenylphosphide Anion with Crown Ether Supported Heavy Alkali Metals to Facilitate Highly Efficient Catalytic Alkene Isomerisation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Here, we report a breakthrough study in catalytic alkene isomerisation using crown ether‐supported alkali metal phosphides in which the activity increases sequentially and significantly as Group One is descended with Cs(18‐crown‐6)PPh2 (1Cs) performing best.

Magnetic resonance elastography in evaluation of liver fibrosis in children with chronic liver disease

open access: yesInsights into Imaging, 2023
Key points 1. MRE has high sensitivity and specificity in evaluating liver fibrosis in children. 2. MRE-LS is significantly correlated with histological Ishak fibrosis stage. 3. Comparing to other parameters, only MRE-LS is a predictor of fibrosis stage.

Scattering of Ultra-relativistic Electrons in the Van Allen Radiation Belts Accounting for Hot Plasma Effects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Electron flux in the Earth's outer radiation belt is highly variable due to a delicate balance between competing acceleration and loss processes. It has been long recognized that Electromagnetic Ion Cyclotron (EMIC) waves may play a crucial role in the ...

Measuring Membership Privacy on Aggregate Location Time-Series [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
While location data is extremely valuable for various applications, disclosing it prompts serious threats to individuals' privacy. To limit such concerns, organizations often provide analysts with aggregate time-series that indicate, e.g., how many ...

From Physics to Economics: An Econometric Example Using Maximum Relative Entropy

open access: yes, 2009
Econophysics, is based on the premise that some ideas and methods from physics can be applied to economic situations. We intend to show in this paper how a physics concept such as entropy can be applied to an economic problem. In so doing, we demonstrate

The field-dependent rheological properties of plate-like carbonyl iron particle-based magnetorheological elastomers

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
This paper investigated the rheological properties of a novel magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) with plate-like carbonyl iron particles (CIPs) as magnetic particles. MRE samples with different shape of CIPs; plate-like (MRE-P) and spherical-like (MRE-S),

An Overview of Durability Evaluations of Elastomer-Based Magnetorheological Materials

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Most parts of the failures in structural elements in use were consequences of mechanical durability. Therefore, durability had been one of the critical factors to be considered in designing durable mechanical elements.

Distributional inference [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The making of statistical inferences in distributional form is conceptionally complicated because the epistemic 'probabilities' assigned are mixtures of fact and fiction.
